Ubisoft releases a free update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on Thursday, November 5, 2026, adding a New Game+ mode that lets players restart Eivor’s story with much of their progress intact. The patch also adds two Xbox achievements worth 60 Gamerscore in total.

It is the first content update for the game since February 2023, when Ubisoft called its previous patch the final one. In a statement, Ubisoft said that full patch notes will follow and that there would be “news regarding current-generation console updates in the coming days.”

Assassin's Creed Valhalla gets New Game+ update on November 5

New Game+ keeps much of Eivor’s progress

New Game+ lets players begin the story again while keeping a large part of what they built in the first run, including equipment. Each new journey has its own difficulty scaling, so the challenge rises as the player goes through the game again. The update also adds an optional extended progression mode. When it is turned on, equipment, runes and masteries add to the character’s total power level, so players can keep improving Eivor in smaller steps after the campaign ends. Ubisoft describes the feature as a way for dedicated players to live the adventure again with the character they had at the end of the main story.

Mithril upgrades Divine gear and runes

The update adds Mithril, a new resource used to improve Divine equipment and strengthen runes. Under the new system, Divine quality applies to all items. The patch also brings new runes, achievements, a stash system for storing equipment and runes, and new rewards, including a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe from Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Xbox achievements total 60 Gamerscore

  • Cycle of Renewal: 50 Gamerscore, for finishing the main story in New Game+
  • Ivaldi’s Heir: 10 Gamerscore, for fully upgrading one Divine equipment piece with Mithril
  • Total for the update: 60 Gamerscore

In 2022, Ubisoft Montreal said the game would not receive New Game+ because it had found “limited options” for making replayability unique. The feature now arrives almost six years after the game’s launch in November 2020. Ubisoft’s position changed, according to the source, after the team said it had been asked for the feature for a long time. The newsroom could not confirm the reasons behind the change beyond what the company has said publicly.

Some details remain unconfirmed

Ubisoft has not yet published the full patch notes, and the content may change before release. The newsroom could not confirm the unlock condition for New Game+, the new maximum level for each equipment piece, the number of new runes, the location of the storage chest or the platinum conversion for Riches Chests. Ubisoft has not said which current-generation console updates will come, or whether a PS5 Pro version will be enhanced.
