CD Projekt Red reported on September 1, 2026 that the Remastered version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not have a separate list of trophies for the PlayStation 5. The new feature will arrive as a direct update to the Complete Edition already available, without the need to purchase or install a new edition of the game for those who already own it.

Understand CD Projekt Red’s decision on updating the game

The confirmation was made by Marcin Momot, community director at CD Projekt Red, who explained the approach adopted by the developer. According to him, Remastered’s improvements will be incorporated directly into what he called the “current game client.” This means that the version of The Witcher 3 that players already have installed will receive the new features without the need for an independent package.

Direct impact on trophies and player progress

In practice, this decision has a significant impact on the gaming community, especially trophy collectors. The Remastered title will not generate a new list of achievements on PlayStation 5. Players will continue with the same record of trophies they already had, just updated with the game’s new features. This choice by the developer prevents platinum hunters from having to replay all the content to obtain a new set of achievements, a common move in other remasters.

Furthermore, match progress is fully guaranteed. The developer stated that existing save files will be compatible with the Remastered version. This way, players will be able to resume their campaigns without any risk of data loss after installing the update.

Free upgrade maintenance for PS4 users

CD Projekt Red’s approach reinforces the already established free upgrade policy. Anyone who owns The Witcher 3 in the PlayStation 4 version continues to be entitled to a free update to the native PlayStation 5 version. After the official launch of Remastered, this same update process will give direct access to the new, improved version of the game, at no additional cost for those who already own the title.

Main news coming with The Witcher 3 Remastered

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is scheduled for release on September 29th, introducing a series of improvements. The improvements aim to modernize the gaming experience, without changing the essence of the original adventure.

  • Considerable graphical improvements
  • Adjustments to the combat system
  • Changes to enemy behavior
  • Skill tree updates
  • Improvements in the functioning of the mount

These updates promise to offer a renewed and more fluid experience, maintaining the rich narrative and vast world of The Witcher 3.
