OpenAI launched ChatGPT for Financial Services to combine specialized market data with GPT-6 Astra reasoning for investment banking and equity research. The software operates inside the ChatGPT Work environment and assists teams in building models and client materials.
Morgan Stanley and Evercore joined OpenAI as foundational design partners to identify operational hurdles in financial workflows.
Technical infrastructure incorporates third-party financial databases
By indexing corporate filings, private market datasets and earnings transcripts from Daloopa, PitchBook, LSEG News and Crunchbase directly on OpenAI servers, the platform eliminates external connector setup times and allows analysts to trace every valuation metric back to its original documentation. Granular citations enable bankers to check source records directly during valuation routines. The system also runs P&L normalization analyses to inspect excluded costs within adjusted EBITDA calculations.
ChatGPT includes centralized governance controls.
Executive statements from Wall Street design partners
Representatives from Morgan Stanley stated: “The promise of frontier research becomes real when it helps our people do the work that matters for our clients. We’re working alongside OpenAI to bring that intelligence into how we research companies, develop analysis, and prepare advice.” The firm also confirmed that its analysts test operational concepts directly with OpenAI engineers.
Evercore noted: “At Evercore, we focus on the questions that matter most to our clients, and we have an opportunity to apply frontier intelligence to help address them.”
OpenAI plans to deliver newer frontier models natively as technical updates clear internal benchmarks. Design work with Morgan Stanley and Evercore will guide subsequent post-training cycles. Engineering teams will apply those lessons to expand tools across additional financial services categories.
