Volkswagen officially presented the ID.Polo, its new electric compact that replaces the combustion version, at an event held at Hamburgo, at Alemanha, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. The model arrives ready for series production with an unprecedented platform, restoration of physical controls and entry price below 26 thousand euros. The brand has opened orders for the intermediate version Life, equipped with 211 horsepower, an enlarged battery and a robust finish, starting at 24,330 euros with discounts and incentives available on the European market.

The ID.Polo adopts the Pure Positive visual language, with dimensions of 4.05 meters long, 1.53 meters high and 1.82 meters wide. The 2.60 meter wheelbase offers a more robust look compared to the traditional Polo. The pupil-shaped LED headlights are connected by a continuous crystal bar, while the Volkswagen logo appears illuminated at the front, following the ID.2all concept presented in 2023.

Interior with physical buttons and large format screens

Atendendo customer demands, the Volkswagen reintroduced buttons and rotary controls for air conditioning and volume control, abandoning the haptic controls criticized in previous models. The panel is covered in superior quality fabric, elevating the perception of finishing in the compact segment.

The 13-inch central screen is the largest available in the category, while the digital instrument cluster measures 10 inches. The system allows for retro skins that mimic the Golf panel from the 70s and 80s, offering nostalgic customization to customers. The trunk has 441 liters of capacity, representing 25% more than the current model. With the seats folded down, the total volume increases to 1,240 liters, placing the compact ahead of direct competitors such as the BYD Dolphin, which offers just 345 liters.

The cell-to-pack technology of PowerCo batteries allows you to gain energy density without the need for additional modules, optimizing the available space. The cells will be manufactured at Alemanha and also at Valencia, at Espanha, ensuring secure supply for European production.

Três motors and batteries with up to 455 km of autonomy

The ID.Polo hits the market with three power options: 116 horsepower, 135 horsepower and 211 horsepower. A GTI version with 226 horsepower is scheduled for 2027, expanding the performance range. Duas batteries are available to suit different usage profiles and budgets of European consumers.

The 37 kWh battery with LFP technology is intended for urban use, offering up to 329 kilometers of autonomy. The 52 kWh battery with NMC technology promises 455 kilometers of range, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes on fast chargers. Ambas batteries support 11 kW alternating current charging. The car includes a bi-directional charging function as standard, allowing it to power external equipment when parked.

The Connected Travel Assist system automatically detects traffic lights, while one-pedal driving comes standard on all versions. The suspension uses MacPherson struts at the front and a semi-rigid axle at the rear, offering a balance between comfort and handling.

The 116 horsepower Match option goes on sale in July, completing the entry range. The official base price is set below 26 thousand euros without incentives, positioning the ID.Polo as an affordable alternative in the European compact electric car segment. Production uses the MEB+ platform to reduce costs and maintain competitiveness in the changing market.
