Retorno to synthetic turf after almost two years
Flamengo returns to face Athletico-PR in Arena from Baixada after a long break. The last visit to the stadium with synthetic grass took place in 2024. Last year, the club from Paraná competed in the Série B.
The artificial surface tends to generate debate between players and technical committees. The Rio team will need to adapt again to the different surface of Maracanã. The clash marks the last match away from home before the break for Copa and Mundo.
Athletico received authorization to use synthetic turf at Brasileirão 2026. Outros clubs also adopted the model. Flamengo already has other games scheduled on similar fields this season.
Sequência away games before Curitiba
Antes from reaching Curitiba, Flamengo faces two commitments as a visitor. Neste Sunday, May 10th, the team plays against Grêmio, in Porto Alegre, for Brasileirão. On Thursday, May 14th, visit Vitória, in Salvador, by Copa of Brasil.
Depois of the game against Athletico-PR, the calendar changes. Flamengo returns to play Maracanã until the calendar is interrupted. Upcoming opponents at home include Estudiantes, from Argentina, from Libertadores, Palmeiras, from Brasileiro, Cusco, from Peru, also from Libertadores, and Coritiba, from Brasileirão.
The sequence requires physical planning from the technical committee. The team travels a lot in this stretch. Fans who support Curitiba will have the chance to support the team in a tight schedule.
Detalhes access and rules for Nação
Athletico reinforced the guidelines to avoid problems at entry. The specific gate for visitors reduces contact with the local fans. Opening hours allow Flamengo fans to organize themselves calmly inside the stadium.
Sales to the visiting sector tend to be in high demand. The club from Paraná monitors demand in real time. Quem leaving to buy at the last minute runs the risk of being left without a ticket. The official website records all transactions.
Facial recognition is part of the crowd control system. The measure follows safety protocols adopted in several stadiums across the country. Torcedores with pending registration must resolve as soon as possible.
What to expect from the duel for the 16th round
The game pits two traditional Brazilian football teams face to face. Athletico plays at home and has the support of the majority of the fans. Flamengo arrives after a series of trips and is looking for important points on the table.
Arena of Baixada has limited capacity. The visiting sector represents a small portion of the total. Quem guaranteeing tickets now avoids queues or speculation from scalpers. Athletico has updated the website with all the necessary information.
The match takes place at a decisive moment in the first round. Ambos teams are looking for better positions in the classification. Synthetic turf can influence the pace of play and team strategies.
