Nintendo Switch 2 recorded 31,751 units sold on Japão between May 25th and May 31st. The number represents a significant reduction compared to the previous week, when the console had surpassed 247 thousand units. The period coincides with the price adjustment announced by Nintendo.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream continued to top physical software sales. The Nintendo title sold 52,483 copies during the week, bringing the cumulative total to 1,259,031 units since its launch in April.
Queda in hardware reflects impact of readjustment
Nintendo Switch 2 sales fell by around 87% week-on-week. Analistas link the movement directly to the price increase implemented by the manufacturer. Antes of the adjustment, the console had recorded significant peaks, driven by advance purchases.
In the consolidated hardware ranking, the Switch 2 still leads comfortably. Outros models from the original line, such as Switch OLED and Lite, recorded lower volumes. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series occupy the next positions with modest numbers.
- Nintendo Switch 2: 31,751 units
- PlayStation 5 (combined versions): 8,373 units
- Nintendo Switch (OLED + Lite + original): 6,201 units
- Xbox Series (X + S): 835 units
Tomodachi Life dominates the software once again
Nintendo’s life simulator maintains strong performance months after launch. In the week analyzed, no other production came close to the 52 thousand copies sold by Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.
Second place was 007 First Light, from IO Interactive, with 20,690 copies. Pokémon Pokopia came in third, followed by Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. Vários titles from Nintendo, including Mario Kart World, rounded out the top 10.
Accumulated Desempenho shows strength of new generation
The Nintendo Switch 2 has already surpassed 2 million units sold in the Japão alone. The console launched in 2025 has accumulated 2,081,146 units in 2026 so far. In the historical total, considering the Switch family, the numbers far exceed 5 million.
Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream consolidates itself as one of the biggest recent releases. With more than 1.25 million physical copies, the game surpasses many traditional titles in terms of continuous sales.
Outros highlights of the week on Japão
Novos releases such as Utawarerumono: Past and Present Rediscovered entered the ranking with relevant initial volumes. Demon Kill Demon: Yomi 1984 also debuted on the list. Minecraft maintained a stable presence among the best sellers.
The Japanese market continues to prioritize physical media in many cases. Famitsu’s research covers physical stores across the country, but does not include digital sales or platforms like Amazon or Nintendo Store.
What the numbers indicate for the near future
The Switch 2 line continues to dominate Japanese hardware even after the price adjustment. First-party Títulos and Tomodachi Life sustain the ecosystem and attract consistent buyers.
Outras platforms record punctual sales, but without threatening Nintendo’s leadership. The week’s performance suggests the market’s gradual adaptation to the new price level.
