Getafe ensured that José Bordalás remained as coach. The Alicante coach signed an agreement to remain at the club for another two seasons and will lead the team in its historic debut in the Conference League.

Negotiations, which have had ups and downs in recent weeks, have advanced in the last few hours. Ángel Torres, president of the club, and the coach reached a verbal understanding, with the signing expected to take place soon. The contract should extend until June 2028.

Bordalás returns to Getafe in 2023 to save the team from relegation and, since then, has consolidated a consistent work. In the season ending, they overcame a difficult start, with the team close to the relegation zone in January, and ended with an unprecedented qualification for European competitions.

The arrival of reinforcements in the middle of the season and the collective performance in the second round were decisive. “EuroGeta”, as it is already called by the fans, represents the high point of a project built with a limited budget and a lot of determination.

The renewal brings stability to the planning of the next LaLiga and the Conference League. Bordalás, Ángel Torres and sporting director Toni Muñoz must immediately begin work on assembling the squad, in a market that promises to be demanding, with possible departures of highlights such as Arambarri.

The coach has accumulated hundreds of games in charge of Getafe in his two spells and is seen as a fundamental player in maintaining the club’s competitive identity, known for extracting the maximum from scarce resources.

The Azulona fans celebrate the news. Bordalás is a beloved figure at the Coliseum and carries the weight of someone who has already delivered salvation, a solid mid-table finish and now the chance to shine in Europe.
