Microsoft speeds up Windows 11 with June update that fixes hundreds of flaws and improves search

Microsoft has started releasing the June 2026 Patch Tuesday for Windows 11 users, bringing a set of improvements that position it as one of the most significant and feature-packed monthly update packages in recent times. Known as KB5094126 (for builds 26200.8655 and 26100.8655), the central objective of this update is to resolve old slowness issues in the system interface and integrate new features that improve the overall experience.

This initiative demonstrates a notable change in the Redmond-based company’s strategy. The technology giant is now focused on optimizing usability (UX) in sectors that were neglected, de-emphasizing the massive implementation of artificial intelligence features directly in the system’s taskbar.

The update package targets the 24H2 and 25H2 editions of the operating system. Maintaining Microsoft’s usual standard, the availability takes place in two parallel stages: a broad phase to resolve crucial security vulnerabilities and another, progressive, for recent interface features, indicating that some visual changes may take a little longer to be noticed by all users.

The technical focal point of this June batch is the feature titled Low Latency Profile. This is a sophisticated power management system designed to feel more agile, even on mid-performance or older machines, during essential everyday activities.

The way this functionality operates bypasses the traditional Windows process scheduler through a clever tactic: as soon as the user activates the Start Menu, Search Bar, Action Center or any software, the system forces the CPU to reach its maximum speed instantly. This performance peak lasts for a brief period of one to two seconds, before the processor returns to its normal state.

Before this implementation, the processor gradually increased its speed according to demand, resulting in noticeable pauses and slowness in opening system components. In-depth tests published by the Windows Latest website indicate that, although there is no explicit control for the user to activate the function, anyone with technical knowledge can verify the occurrence of these short increases in CPU activity when using the system through tools such as the Task Manager or HWiNFO64, showing a fundamental optimization that directly impacts the fluidity of everyday life.

A significant improvement to the user experience fixes a problem that has plagued many since the operating system’s introduction. In the initial Windows setup (OOBE) phase, when associating a Microsoft account, the wizard automatically created the name of the user folder in C:Users, using only the initial letters of the email (resulting in identifiers such as “joao_”).

Currently, the device’s personalization screen now offers the option to manually enter the name of the profile folder. However, this functionality is only available for new installations and complete system formats.

The search functionality built into Windows has also been improved in its indexing capabilities. The system can now present results for files and programs after filling in just two characters, making the process of accessing tools via the keyboard much more agile.

The Start Menu demonstrates a more efficient response, without the persistent crashes that marked previous editions; Furthermore, an analysis of the code of this new version indicates that Microsoft plans, for future compilations, the possibility of completely eliminating the recommendation areas.

In the sphere of resources dedicated to multimedia and accessibility, Windows 11 incorporates tools that make its environment more similar to those proposed by rival operating systems, introducing the following functionalities:

  • Audio Distribution to Multiple Devices:With the integration of Bluetooth LE Audio technology, Windows now makes it possible to stream audio from your computer to up to two compatible pairs of headphones or earbuds simultaneously.
  • Concurrent Camera Use by Multiple Applications:Overcoming the old hardware exclusivity restriction, the system now allows multiple programs, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and OBS Studio, to capture and use the video stream from the same webcam at the same time.
  • Optimized Task Manager:The system performance monitor has been improved with the inclusion of new dedicated columns to display the memory consumption and processing of NPUs (Neural Processing Units) by each application, in addition to detailing the AI ​​engines integrated into Intel and AMD GPUs.

The issue of accessibility also received attention in the update. The Magnifier tool now has support for smoother movements in lens mode, more uniform beeps for screen reading programs, and the new feature of enlarging copyrighted materials (DRM) without the screen going dark.

The stability of accessories connected through USB4 ports and expansion hubs has been improved to ensure that external displays wake up consistently after the computer resumes from sleep mode. Likewise, battery drain on laptops has been optimized with tweaks that correct excessive power consumption on the HID bus and sensors operating in the background.

In addition to the visual changes, the June update implements a notable number of fixes for security flaws. 206 vulnerabilities were resolved, many of which were classified as critical or high severity. A prominent breach, considered urgent, is CVE-2026-45657, a remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability that directly affects the operating system’s kernel level, with a severity index of 9.8.

Communications from Microsoft itself point out that the internal use of artificial intelligence solutions by engineering teams contributed decisively to the rapid detection of these problems in recent months, an advance that becomes crucial considering that security experts employ large-scale automation to find flaws. This acceleration in the pace of release of structural fixes by Microsoft aims to proactively stop zero-day attacks, highlighting how AI is becoming a fundamental tool in defending against cyber threats.

The patch package also resolves the frequent installation error 0x800f0922, which prevented updates from completing on computers with low space available on the EFI system partition (less than 10 MB), a common failure on devices that received the May security update.

To download and install the KB5094126 update, the user must navigate to the system settings menu, in Settings > Windows Update, and select the “Check for updates” option. The procedure ultimately requires restarting the equipment.
