Thousands of Instagram users encountered difficulties accessing the platform and its mobile application this Tuesday (June 23, 2026), according to reports collected by Downdetector, a portal that monitors the status of various online services. The problems affected everything from browsing the social network to loading content.
Initial details of the service interruption
The instability on the social network was initially noticed in the afternoon, according to the first information collected. At around 2:32 pm (Pacific time), more than 10,000 users had already reported platform failures to Downdetector. Most reports pointed to difficulties both in the mobile version of the application and in accessing it via the website.
Escalation of problems reported by users
The number of complaints grew rapidly within a few minutes, indicating the scope of the incident. At 2:37 pm (Pacific time), reports already exceeded the mark of 12 thousand users. In a later update, just a minute later, at 2:38 p.m., more than 18,000 people had reported some type of difficulty with Instagram, reflecting the rapid spread of the outage.
Lack of official Instagram positioning
At the time of publishing this news, Meta, Instagram’s parent company, had not officially commented on the instability. This lack of immediate communication about the causes or expected normalization is a pattern observed in previous incidents that affected their platforms, which often generates additional frustration among users looking for explanations and solutions. The recurrence of failures on large social platforms raises questions about the robustness of digital infrastructure and the impacts on daily communication.
