A tipster on the Chinese platform Weibo revealed that the upcoming Xiaomi 18 Pro should incorporate a privacy screen functionality identical to that of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra. Advance information on the social network details much of the specifications of Xiaomi’s future premium device, covering aspects such as cameras, battery capacity and software updates.
Among the most innovative features of the Galaxy S26 Ultra is its Privacy Screen. This feature offers visual protection similar to that of a physical protective film, but is native to the device’s hardware and allows the user to control the visibility of specific areas of the display, activating or deactivating the effect as needed. This technological advancement responds to the growing demand for security in public environments, where protection from prying eyes has become a priority for many smartphone users.
The well-known leaker Digital Chat Station has now stated in more detail that the Privacy Screen will be a component of the Xiaomi 18 Pro. Since the beginning of the year, in February, the same informant had already indicated, also on Weibo, that the privacy technology would be present in future smartphones from Chinese brands, and now he reinforces its inclusion in Xiaomi’s next flagship.
In his post, the tipster detailed: “The new flagship of the flagship series, the Pro series, is testing a new generation of 2K resolution screen and privacy technology, with full hardware and software support for privacy protection.”
Samsung’s technology, called Flex Magic Pixel, is the basis of the Privacy Screen on your device. This display innovation combines standard pixels with others that have directional filters. When these filters are activated, the image on the display is only perceived by those looking directly at the cell phone.
It is important to highlight that this information is still rumors, which makes it impossible to absolutely confirm its veracity. Only the official launch of the device will make it possible to verify whether the implementation of privacy technology in the Xiaomi 18 Pro will work identically to that present in the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Details about the specifications of the Xiaomi 18 Pro are anticipated by leaks
Another leak expert, known as Smart Pikachu, also shared on the same digital platform a series of details regarding the technical configuration of the Xiaomi 18 Pro:
- A new LOFIC sensor for the main camera, with 200 MP resolution;
- A periscopic camera, also 200 MP (85 mm), offering optical zoom between 3x and 3.5x;
- The inclusion of a dedicated button to activate the virtual assistant based on artificial intelligence;
- A high capacity battery, reaching 7,800 mAh;
- The not yet official processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6;
- RAM memory in the LPDDR6 standard, exclusive to the Pro Max version of the device.
It is important to reiterate that none of this information has been officially confirmed by the manufacturer so far. Therefore, the data released may be inaccurate or subject to modifications before the official launch of the smartphone.
The expectation is that both the Xiaomi 18 and the Xiaomi 18 Pro will be launched in September this year. However, so far, Xiaomi has not revealed the exact date for the presentation event of the new models.
