A twelve-year-old boy lost his life by drowning after throwing himself into a lake, trying to escape three dogs that were chasing him intensely. The tragic incident occurred in Kern County, California.
Fernando Torres Moreno was unable to emerge from the waters of Central Park Lake, located in Kern County, California, in the United States. Police officers responded to an emergency call about the drowning and found the young man in an extremely serious condition.
Fernando was urgently transported to a local hospital, where resuscitation procedures were immediately initiated. Unfortunately, he did not survive and passed away the next day, on June 19th.
The dogs involved in the incident belonged to Kenneth Dobbins, 68, who admitted to police authorities that they were present at the edge of the lake at the time of the incident. However, the elderly man refuted the allegation that his animals chased the boy and assured that he maintained control over them throughout the period.
At first, Kenneth was not detained by the police. However, the progress of the investigation revealed that the 68-year-old man’s dogs did in fact play a role in the tragic episode that resulted in Fernando’s fatality.
When the agents went to Kenneth’s residence, they found that the resident had fled. One of the dogs was captured by the teams, while the other two were not found at the scene and disappeared.
Public safety officials suspect Kenneth may have crossed state lines, complicating search operations and potentially toughening future legal charges against the dogs’ owner.
