Apple announced on Thursday an increase in prices for several of its products, ranging from iPads and Macs to devices for the home. The news is unfavorable for consumers who plan to purchase new devices from the technology giant, whose market value is estimated at US$4 trillion.
Among the most impactful readjustments is that of the MacBook Neo, launched a few months ago. The laptop, initially positioned as a more affordable alternative to compete with the Chromebook and ideal for students, will now cost US$699, representing an increase of US$100 over the original price of US$599.
The then CEO, Tim Cook, had already signaled at the beginning of the month that the increases would be “inevitable”. He justified the measure by the advancement of artificial intelligence and the growing demand for computing power that it implies, which drives the need for more complex chips and, consequently, increases the manufacturing costs of essential components.
Supply chain shortages, driven by unprecedented demand for memory and storage chips for large AI data centers, are cited as the main cause. This scenario has already led other technology giants, such as Microsoft and Samsung, to readjust their own prices.
Although it is not among the leaders in the development of artificial intelligence software, alongside companies such as OpenAI, Anthropologie or Google, Apple has not managed to free itself from rising production costs. The company, responsible for the iPhone, reached an agreement in May with Intel to manufacture part of its chips. However, these production hurdles didn’t stop Apple from announcing 17% revenue growth during its most recent earnings call.
Given this scenario, we are monitoring Apple’s main offers that will appear during Amazon Prime Day, which can help mitigate the effect of these readjustments. Below, we present a detailed list of all Apple iPads, Macs and home devices that have seen their values increase.

The data was compiled to facilitate consumer consultation. It’s important to note that these are base values, which means that choosing options with greater storage, adding an AppleCare subscription or other accessories can increase the final cost even further. The prices presented were compared with the launch values of these basic versions of the products.
