Sony has started a robust advertising campaign, claiming that the PlayStation 5 will stand out as the best platform to experience Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) at its launch. The statement was made in a post on the company’s official blog this Wednesday, with the debut date of the long-awaited title scheduled for November 19, 2026.

The next chapter in the GTA franchise will take advantage of unique technologies from the Sony console. Highlighted features include DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, as well as the innovative Tempest 3D AudioTech, designed to completely immerse players in “Leonida’s unique soundscapes”, the fictional environment where the plot will unfold.

The manufacturer also emphasized the performance of the PlayStation 5’s ultra-high-speed SSD, promising that loading times will be practically instantaneous. However, it is important to highlight that both Sony and Rockstar have not released any technical data proving the superior performance of GTA 6 on the PlayStation 5 compared to the Xbox Series, suggesting that the announcement has a strong strategic marketing appeal.

However, for PlayStation 5 Pro owners, the expectation is a significantly improved gaming experience compared to other current generation models. The official GTA 6 page on the PlayStation Store already displays the “PS5 Pro Enhanced” seal, indicating that the title will fully utilize the additional capabilities of the mid-generation console.

Rockstar and Sony share a long and strategic marketing alliance, dating back to the series’ first 3D titles such as GTA III. Historically, the franchise’s pioneering games debuted on PlayStation consoles before being made available for other platforms, a pattern that began to change with the release of GTA IV.

Both Microsoft and Sony are expected to register a significant increase in sales of their respective consoles by the end of this year. However, the scenario for the Xbox Series presents more complex challenges. The Microsoft console has faced difficulties with the shortage of chips, and the estimate is that the hardware components will cost 500% more by the end of next year, compared to the values practiced in 2024. This context makes Sony’s campaign even more relevant to boost the sale of its equipment.

Details about the physical edition of GTA 6

Rockstar Games also released, this Wednesday morning, the first information about the prices and availability of GTA 6. Despite expectations, the game has already been the target of some criticism, even before the official start of pre-sales.

Although the producer has confirmed that the title will be distributed on physical media, a surprising revelation is that the physical edition of GTA 6 will not include a disc. This decision reflects the growing trend in the gaming industry towards digital, optimizing costs and logistics.
