Renowned Turkish actor Kadir İnanır, an emblematic figure in cinema, has died at the age of 77. His death occurred after a period of hospitalization that began on May 14, culminating in his intubation in the intensive care unit (ICU) six days later.
The artist, now 77 years old, had recently been taken to a hospital due to a diagnosis of pneumonia. This condition led to his immediate admission to the intensive care unit.
The initial medical evaluation revealed a severe lung infection, requiring intensive monitoring of his condition. During the course of treatment, the actor’s oxygen demand increased, leading to the decision to intubate him to stabilize his vital functions.
Unfortunately, Kadir İnanır did not show the expected improvement due to medical interventions. His death was confirmed at the hospital where he was receiving care for pneumonia.
Additional details about İnanır’s health were shared by Jülide Kural, his companion. She revealed that tests detected the presence of a tumor in the lung, located below the area affected by pneumonia. Intubation, according to Kural, aimed to optimize medical intervention, reduce discomfort and allow more precise control of the treatment.
The painful loss of the actor’s sister weeks before her death
The actor’s nephew, Levent İnanır, shared a moving account of the moments leading up to the intubation. According to Levent, his uncle expressed concern about the health of his sister, his mother, in their last conversation. Levent narrated: “In our last conversation, he asked about my mother, who wasn’t well. I replied: ‘Leave your sister alone, you’ll get better’. He was fine, he even made a joke: ‘Get me out of here and put Levent in my place'”.
However, Kadir İnanır’s sister, Altun Arıca, who was 95 years old, actually passed away. His death occurred on June 23, and the burial took place in the city of Fatsa.
