Price of the GWM Ora 03 drops to R$ 149 thousand after the debut of its brother SUV Ora 5
An important reconfiguration of the GWM catalog in Brazil was announced with the arrival of the Ora 5, the Chinese automaker’s newest electric SUV. In response, the price of the Ora 03 electric hatch was significantly adjusted, going from R$169,000 to R$149,000, which represents a reduction of R$20,000 in the final value. The measure intensifies the dispute in the compact electric vehicle segment in the country, where competition is fierce.
The strategy behind this change is quite objective: ensuring that the Ora 03 is positioned in a lower price range than the Ora 5, which was launched on the market for R$159,000. With this new pricing, the smaller model costs R$10,000 less than its larger relative. Both vehicles share a similar visual aesthetic, however, the SUV stands out for its more generous dimensions and for being built on a technologically advanced platform.
Even though the official GWM portal still displays the original value of the Ora 03, the R$20,000 bonus offer is visibly announced shortly afterwards. This new commercial condition is now equally accessible to consumers at all of the brand’s dealerships.
Currently, the GWM Ora 03 is sold exclusively in the BEV58 variant. This model has an electric motor installed on the front axle, capable of generating 171 horsepower and a torque of 25.5 kgfm. Its battery, with a capacity of 58 kWh, offers a range of 315 km, according to Inmetro tests. On the other hand, the Ora 5 has greater power and a greater range, reaching 349 km on a single charge.
The current situation raises questions about the permanence of the GWM Ora 03 in the Brazilian market in the long term. The electric hatch, unlike its main competitors such as the BYD Dolphin, Dolphin Mini and Geely EX2, has not managed to register large sales volumes. Data from Fenabrave reveals that, between January and May 2026, the vehicle accumulated 1,587 units sold, a number significantly below the performance of its direct rivals.
Furthermore, the recent arrival of the Ora 5 does not favor the future prospects of the hatchback model. The math is simple: for a difference of just R$10,000, the consumer can purchase a larger electric car, with greater autonomy and more robust performance.
When analyzing the dimensions, the Ora 5 stands out at 4.47 meters in length, surpassing the Ora 03 by 24 centimeters. Its width is 1.83 meters, one centimeter more, and the height reaches 1.64 meters, two centimeters greater. The SUV’s wheelbase measures 2.72 meters, compared to the hatch’s 2.65 meters, which translates into considerably more internal space for passengers.
