RB Leipzig standout player Yan Diomande expressed uncertainty about his future at the German club, raising doubts about his permanence. The change of stance occurred after Ivory Coast’s 2-0 victory against Curaçao in the World Cup, where the athlete had promised to remain in the team.

Asked by journalists in the mixed zone about choosing his next club, the right-winger avoided giving a definitive answer. Diomande said he has not thought about the post-World Cup future and that his attention is entirely on the current tournament. He concluded by saying that only then would he consider the options, without revealing details for now.

This new position contrasts with an announcement made in mid-May, when Diomande confirmed his stay at RB Leipzig for next season. On that occasion, in an interview with Kicker magazine, the athlete responded categorically with a simple “yes” about his future.

He had previously played down interest from other teams, stating that he did not think about it and enjoyed playing for Leipzig. Qualifying for the Champions League was a fundamental point in his decision to remain, classifying the year as “great” due to the results achieved.

Diomande reveals childhood passion for Paris Saint-Germain

Rumors about a possible move to Paris Saint-Germain were intensified at the beginning of June, fueled by statements from the player himself. Before Ivory Coast’s friendly match against France, Diomande stated that he was trying to stay focused, but revealed that he had been a PSG fan since childhood, mentioning that his father was the same. He reiterated, however, that his priority was the World Cup and that the future would be decided later.

Confirming the emotional connection, the athlete expressed happiness at Paris Saint-Germain’s victory in the Champions League final, which was played against Arsenal.

Speculation about Diomande’s transfer to PSG gains strength

Big European clubs such as Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC and Real Madrid are closely monitoring the talented player. Liverpool, in particular, showed a very strong interest.

However, the most solid evidence suggests that the athlete’s likely destination is the French capital. According to the outlet Footmercato, Diomande has already agreed to move to Paris Saint-Germain, current champions of the Champions League.

Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Red Bull, took a firm stance against the sale of the Ivorian player, despite speculation that the transfer value could exceed 100 million euros. In an interview with Sky at the end of April, Mintzlaff stated that, in his position on the sports board, he would not trade an athlete so young and with less than a full season.

RB Leipzig’s signing of Diomande for 20 million euros and its impact

RB Leipzig acquired Diomande from CD Leganés in the summer of 2025 for an investment of 20 million euros. The player had a remarkable performance, scoring 12 goals and providing 9 assists in 33 Bundesliga games, proving crucial for the team to secure their return to the Champions League.

In the previous season, the club had failed to qualify for European tournaments, although they finished the national championship in third place. This result led to the dismissal of coach Ole Werner, with Martin Demichelis taking over his position.
