Illumination’s popular yellow beings return to theaters with an all-new narrative. The feature film “Minions & Monsters”, which marks the third release in the franchise that originated from “Despicable Me”, hits theaters this week, promising a combination of humor, adrenaline and monstrous beings in a plot that takes place in the vibrant Golden Age of Hollywood.
The central plot follows James, one of the Minions, in his aspiration to transcend his ordinary role within the group to become a film director. However, in the midst of this quest, he inadvertently releases truly monstrous figures, putting both his projects and the planet in danger. Given this, the Minions are compelled to collaborate to dominate the entities, while becoming involved in a series of comical and chaotic events.
The direction of Pierre Coffin, the creator of Minions, ensures that the saga’s relaxed tone is maintained. The film, however, goes further, paying tribute to cinema classics, with the setting of old monster films serving as the backdrop for this new story. Hollywood’s Golden Age period was prolific for the horror genre, spawning icons like Dracula and Frankenstein, and the film explores this rich cultural tapestry. The original voice acting includes talents such as Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch and Allison Janney. The arrival in cinemas coincides with the school break, which amplifies projections of an expressive financial result. Since its appearance in 2015, the “Minions” series has established itself as one of the biggest hits in global animation, racking up billions of dollars and captivating audiences of all ages.
Parallel to the arrival of “Minions & Monsters”, the week’s cinematographic program features other varied releases. There are action, suspense and drama films, expanding the entertainment alternatives for viewers during the next weekend.
For those who haven’t had the chance to see it yet, the feature film remains on display at the Cine Show, located in Tubarão. The work continues to captivate the public in projection rooms, becoming an excellent choice for those looking for fun, exciting moments and the immersion provided by the big screen. With several sessions scheduled throughout the week, those interested can still enjoy the story directly in the cinemas, checking the times and the complete agenda through the official Cine Show media outlets.
