Drone attack sets fire to Taganrog Port: Fire persists and evacuation continues
Rescue teams continue to work to control a large fire in the port of Taganrog, located in the Rostov region, which started on the night of Friday, July 10, after a drone attack. The information was confirmed by Governor Yuri Slyusar on his official channel.
Governor Yuri Slyusar himself addressed Taganrog, describing it as the target of an extensive air raid. He detailed that work to extinguish the flames at an oil depot at the port is underway. Emergency services and a fire train were mobilized, with adequate supplies of special foam to contain harmful emissions and environmental impacts.
On his visit, Slyusar also met with the inhabitants of Taganrog who were displaced to a temporary reception center.

During the meeting, the governor informed residents that the fire would not be extinguished quickly, explaining the need for evacuation as a primary safety measure. He highlighted that residential buildings are located in the area designated as an emergency zone.
Slyusar further stated that recent attacks directly target local infrastructure, with a particular focus on fuel and lubricant storage facilities, as well as maritime transport of petroleum products.

Previously, the governor had reported that fire broke out in the port area of Taganrog after a drone offensive overnight.
On the same night, approximately 35 drones were intercepted and destroyed over the Rostov region, in defensive actions against air attacks in the cities of Taganrog and Azov, and also in the districts of Azovsky and Matveyevo-Kurgan. In Azov, the drone offensive caused fires at two oil depots.
The port of Taganrog, a strategic point that operates throughout the year, is located on the northern coast of the Sea of Azov, within the Taganrog Bay. The port structure has a total of 11 piers.
