An aircraft loaded with approximately 300 kilos of cocaine made a forced landing on a farm in the rural area of Itarumã, southwest of Goiás, this Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The incident was noticed by an employee of the property, who called the authorities after spotting the plane in flames. The police found a large quantity of drugs hidden in the woods close to the accident site, but the pilot has not been located so far.

Burning aircraft leads to discovery of large quantity of drugs

The arrival of the Road Battalion at the forced landing site, in the rural area of Itarumã, was initially caused by the aircraft fire. However, while investigating the area, officers came across an unusual scene. Near the wreckage of the burning plane, a vast haul of cocaine was carefully hidden in the local vegetation.

Hiding tactic and the escape of the person responsible for the flight

Investigators suspect that the pilot managed to hide the 300 kilos of cocaine in the woods immediately after the fire started, before fleeing. Images from the scene show the central part of the aircraft completely destroyed by flames, indicating the seriousness of the incident. To date, the pilot involved in transporting the drug has not been found by authorities.

The volume of seizures and the challenge of air traffic in Goiás

The seizure of 300 kilos of cocaine in a single incident highlights the complexity of combating drug trafficking using air routes. Goiás, due to its strategic geographic position, often becomes a corridor for the illicit transport of substances, requiring continuous attention from security forces to curb the practice and identify large shipments like this. The quantity found suggests a large trafficking operation.

Expertise will be essential to uncover the route and those responsible

It is still necessary to carry out a detailed examination to identify the exact model of the aircraft and track its origin and destination. Authorities are seeking information about those responsible for the cargo and who would be the final recipient of the drugs. This investigative work is crucial to dismantle the trafficking network involved in the case.

Points still being investigated by the authorities

The investigation continues to clarify several aspects of the case, seeking answers to:

  • Accurate identification of the type and model of the aircraft involved in the incident.
  • Determination of the starting point and expected final destination of the cocaine load.
  • Clarification of the pilot’s identity and current whereabouts.
  • Identification of the groups or individuals who would be the recipients of the 300 kg of seized drugs.
