Grêmio signs Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinović until the end of 2028
Grêmio confirmed, on the morning of July 27, 2026, the signing of Croatian midfielder Filip Krovinović, 30 years old. The player signed a contract that extends until the end of 2028. A right-handed athlete, Krovinović plays the role of attacking midfielder, a position that the club from Rio Grande do Sul has been looking to reinforce since the beginning of the current season. The arrival of the player with a long-term contract demonstrates Tricolor’s commitment to strengthening the play creation sector.
Before coming to Brazil, Krovinović was playing for Hajduk Split, who finished second in the Croatian Championship last season. An important detail is that the midfielder already worked under the command of coach Luís Castro between 2016 and 2017, during the period in which both were at Rio Ave, in Portugal, which could facilitate his adaptation to Grêmio’s tactical scheme.
Filip Krovinović began his professional career at NK Zagreb and, in 2015, moved to Rio Ave. Two years later, in 2017, he was signed by Benfica, but had few opportunities to show his football in the first team.

In 2019, the player was loaned to West Bromwich, in England, and played an active role in the campaign that guaranteed the team’s access to the Premier League in the 2019/2020 season.
At the beginning of 2021, he wore the Nottingham Forest shirt, still on loan from Benfica. In July of the same year, he permanently left the Portuguese club to join the Hajduk Split squad, where he won the Croatian Cup in two consecutive editions, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023.
Filip Krovinović also represented the Croatian national team at youth level, playing for the U19 and U21 teams.
