Ivorian striker Yan Diomande, who became the most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history, expressed great enthusiasm about starting his training at his new club. The player arrived at the Spanish team after a €125 million transfer from RB Leipzig.

The total value of the negotiation can reach 140 million euros (approximately R$824 million), including bonuses for targets to be achieved.

In an interview given to Real Madrid’s official television, Diomande made a point of praising the work of coach José Mourinho and detailed the reasons that led him to accept the challenge of defending the Merengue team.

“Because it’s the best club in the world. When Madrid calls you, you can’t say no. It’s that simple,” said Diomande. He also added: “I want to thank the coach because we had a conversation before and I’m here thanks to him and the club, of course. I’m happy. Thank you for this signing and thank you to the club and the coach for believing in me.”

Internal sources at Real Madrid revealed that Diomande has been making a strong impression in the first training sessions, standing out for his technical quality, speed and physical capacity.

“I’m a little shy to speak and I want to learn the team dynamics to help achieve many successes together. It’s always good to have great players in the dressing room. You learn from them. I saw them on television and today we share the same dressing room. It’s incredible”, said the striker.

The young athlete concluded his speech by expressing pride and satisfaction: “I’m proud and happy because this was my dream. When I was a child, I wanted to play for the biggest clubs in the world. My goal is to have many successes with the club and help the team achieve everything. I’m very happy to be here and I hope to have a lot of success in the team.”

Ivory Coast’s absolute starter, the 19-year-old right winger played four games in the last World Cup. He last entered the field on June 30, in the 2-1 defeat to Norway in the round of 16, the first of the knockout stages. Despite his young age, Diomande was one of Leipzig’s highlights last season, with 13 goals and nine assists in 36 matches.
