Tesla schedules new Roadster reveal with SpaceX tech for Oct 1
Tesla will officially unveil the next-generation Roadster electric sports car on October 1 during a dedicated public showcase displaying the complete vehicle. The electric carmaker established this autumn date to reveal the comprehensive features and final exterior styling of the long-awaited performance model to prospective buyers.
A promotional teaser published on X featured the phrase Go for launch alongside the numerical date 10.01 to indicate cold-gas thrusters engineered alongside Elon Musk’s SpaceX aerospace company that grant the electric car brief airborne capability. The specialized auxiliary thruster package provides an unconventional propulsion system capable of short hops. Buyers will have the option to equip this rocket-inspired technology on production units.
Tesla initially unveiled the first iteration of the sports car in November 2017 before enduring repeated development delays, drawing public frustration from OpenAI executive Sam Altman over the 7.5-year wait following his $50,000 reservation payment. Musk processed the refund.
Tesla engineering teams completely discarded the vehicle’s original structural layout from 2017 in favor of a revised chassis architecture that will make its formal debut during the October presentation.
Automated assembly lines will not start commercial mass manufacturing immediately following the scheduled October unveiling. Musk stated that the company’s factory operations require an additional 12 to 18 months after the preview before high-volume vehicle assembly begins.
