Rockstar Games released the official launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI on Thursday (15) from its headquarters in New York, United States. The 90-second video arrives just over a month before the game hits consoles on November 19, 2026, and features footage captured entirely on a PlayStation 5 console.

The promotional material debuts an original track by the French electronic duo Justice and expands on the background of co-protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. In the official description accompanying the video, the developer summarized the central conflict facing the couple in the fictional state of Leonida: “Vice City, USA. Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.”

Grand Theft Auto VI story details for Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos

The newly released footage provides deeper narrative context for the two playable leads as they navigate the criminal underworld of Vice City and the broader territory of Leonida. According to scenes shown in the trailer, Jason Duval previously served in the military, left the armed forces on bad terms, and now deals with severe financial difficulties. At the same time, the video depicts Lucia Caminos calling her partner directly from prison and later appearing on the streets wearing an electronic ankle monitor.

Beyond the legal troubles, the 1-minute-and-30-second clip combines fast-paced action sequences with personal moments between the couple. Viewers see armed robberies, high-speed police chases, helicopters patrolling the skies, an intimate shower scene involving the two characters, and a sequence where the protagonists jump off a building straight into a hotel swimming pool. In one of the dialogue exchanges featured in the preview, Lucia Caminos asks: “Are we gonna be okay?” Jason Duval responds directly to her concern: “We stuck together through everything. Just gotta get through it.”

Justice soundtrack and Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album

Music plays a central role in the October 15, 2026 presentation, which marks the premiere of the song Flower in a Hurricane. The track was created by Justice, the French electronic music duo formed by Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay, who also composed the original score for Grand Theft Auto VI. The single features guest collaborations from Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard.

While Rockstar Games relied on licensed classics for its two previous main trailers — using Love Is a Long Road, by Tom Petty, in the first video, and Hot Together, by The Pointer Sisters, in the second — the studio opted for an original composition to anchor the final launch trailer. Flower in a Hurricane is part of the official soundtrack release titled Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, a compilation that includes 34 songs written specifically for the project, featuring unreleased tracks by artists such as Keith Richards and Travis Scott.

Previous Grand Theft Auto VI previews and PC version status

The arrival of the launch trailer follows a marketing campaign that included an Extended Look at Grand Theft Auto VI broadcast via Netflix at the end of August 2026, which demonstrated the cinematic gameplay mechanics of the title. In addition, the official story synopsis distributed alongside the new video had already been published by Rockstar Games during the rollout of the second trailer and on the game’s official website, arriving 13 years after the release of the previous main entry in the franchise.

Despite confirming the launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles on Thursday, November 19, 2026, Rockstar Games has still not announced an official release date or development timeline for a computer (PC) version of Grand Theft Auto VI.
