Jeep reacts to the Tiggo 8 with cheaper Commander 2025 and touches on the exterior design

Jeep launched the mid-life facelift of the Commander, a seven-seater midsize SUV, with design adjustments and price cuts of up to R$20,000. The change comes after the model lost sales leadership to the Caoa Chery Tiggo 8 in 2024. The vehicle maintains a 1.3 turbo flex engine, now with 176 hp.

The Limited version, top of the flex range tested, starts at R$ 246,990, compared to R$ 257,990 previously.

Dimensions and internal space highlight the model

The Commander measures 4.79 m in length, has axles of 2.79 m and weighs 1,675 kg. It surpasses the Tiggo 8 in terms of trunk: 661 liters with five seats and 233 liters with seven.

The second row runs and facilitates access to the third. Front seats are electrically adjustable for the driver. Steering wheel adjusts in height and depth.

Flex engine feels heavy during acceleration

The 1.3 turbo engine delivers 176 hp and 27.5 kgfm with ethanol or gasoline. Accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds. Six-speed automatic transmission works with Sport mode.

In the city, consumption recorded 6.5 km/l with ethanol. On the road, it reached 12.3 km/l. Inmetro shows 6.9 km/l city and 8.3 km/l highway with ethanol.

Resumptions require planning with full load. Noise invades the cabin at high revs.

Dynamics and comfort on long journeys

Front McPherson and rear multilink suspension filters out irregularities without bottoming out. Progressive electric steering conveys confidence in curves. Acoustic insulation controls wind and road noise.

Trunk and everyday accessibility

Parking is easier with deactivatable front and rear sensors. 20.9 degree angle of attack prevents scraping on slopes. Third row accommodates children on short journeys.

Second row has independent air vents and USB-A and USB-C ports. Lack of ventilation in third gear compromises comfort in a R$250,000 car.
