Apple has removed the Mac Pro from its official website and confirmed that it does not plan to release new models of the device. The product purchase page now redirects to the Mac line home page, with all references to the equipment eliminated. The decision consolidates the Mac Studio as the main high-performance desktop option for professionals who demand powerful machines.

Mac Pro is discontinued after seven years without significant updates

The Mac Pro received its last major update in June 2023, when it incorporated the M2 Ultra chip. Desde then, the model maintained its starting price of US$6,999 without new configurations, even after the launch of the M3 Ultra in Mac Studio in 2025. The professional tower, which was present in the Apple catalog for approximately 20 years, is now leaving the scene definitively.

The transition reflects the company’s strategy of focusing on integrated and efficient solutions with Apple Silicon chips. The industrial design of the Mac Pro launched in 2019 also coincided with the launch of the Pro Display XDR, which had already been discontinued earlier this month. Essa change marks the closing of an era in the history of the Mac line.

Mac Studio takes central position in the desktop offering

Apple now offers exactly three desktop models in its catalog. The 24-inch iMac is equipped with an M4 chip. The Mac mini is available in versions with M4 and M4 Pro. The Mac Studio completes the offer as a more robust solution for demanding professional tasks.

The Mac Studio allows configurations with up to 32-core CPU, up to 80-core GPU, 256 GB of unified memory and up to 16 TB of SSD storage. Profissionais that need high performance find the machine a more compact and updated alternative to the traditional Mac Pro tower. The simplification comes after the recent launch of the MacBook Neo, which joins the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro in the laptop lineup.

Advanced Recursos extend capabilities without expansion

macOS Tahoe 26.2 introduced RDMA support over Thunderbolt 5 with low latency, allowing you to connect multiple Macss to increase performance in high-end workloads. Esse feature benefits users who demand extensive computing power without depending on a single scalable device as was the case with Mac Pro.

  • Configurações from Mac Studio include up to M3 Ultra with high number of CPU and GPU cores.
  • Unified Memória reaches 256 GB for heavy multitasking and intensive processing.
  • Armazenamento expandable SSD reaches 16TB at maximum configurations.
  • Conectividade Thunderbolt 5 supports advanced workflows and fast data transfer.

Balanced Linha offers options for different demands

The decision to close the Mac Pro reflects the evolution of the Apple chips, which deliver high performance in more compact and efficient formats. The Mac Studio meets most of the needs of video editors, photographers and creators who previously considered the tower as their primary option. The current Macs lineup spans varying price ranges and form factors, from the affordable MacBook Neo to professional options like the MacBook Pro and Mac Studio.

Apple maintains a focus on regular updates for active models, ensuring professionals have access to the latest technologies without the need for a dedicated expandable tower. Usuários who still own Mac Pro can continue using the equipment, but new purchases are no longer available directly on the official website. The company focuses its efforts on products that combine power, efficiency and simplicity in the user experience.
