The Brazilian team received good news this Tuesday about the team’s main player in the World Cup.

Neymar, called up by Carlo Ancelotti, suffered a grade 2 injury to his right calf and will not play in the debut against Morocco. However, the striker remains guaranteed in the group and should return to the field against Haiti.

Assessments by the CBF medical department indicated that the player is capable of acting against the Haitians and, therefore, remains with the Brazilian delegation in the United States.

A long-awaited return

Neymar is the idol of an entire generation of fans. The striker will play his last World Cup and end an important cycle in his career.

Out of the national team since 2023 due to a serious cruciate knee ligament injury, he will again wear Amarelinha’s number 10 shirt at the World Cup.

Once he takes to the field, Neymar will equal Pelé’s record of participating in four World Cups with the number 10 on his back.

When will Brazil’s debut be?

The World Cup officially starts on June 11, 2026, with the opening game between Mexico and South Africa, at the Azteca Stadium.

Brazil takes the field on June 13th, against Morocco. In theory, this will be the most difficult match in the group stage, considering the good performance of the Moroccans in the last edition of the tournament.
