Capcom revealed this Tuesday (9) during Nintendo Direct the expanded version of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, which arrives on October 9, 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

The title follows the path of the first Dragon’s Dogma, which gained a Dark Arisen edition with additional content after the original release. The new version includes the complete base game and the Dark Arisen expansion in a single package for the Switch 2, while on other consoles the extra content will be sold as separate DLC.

The expansion brings the snowy region of Norgan, to the north of the map, with new stories, 12 additional dungeons and new encounters. Players will also be able to explore the Relic Expedition Cycle and have extra customization options, such as new hairstyles and tattoos for the Arisen and the Pawns.

The announcement comes more than two years after the release of Dragon’s Dogma 2, in March 2024. The game has already surpassed the mark of 4 million copies sold worldwide, consolidating the franchise as a niche success for Capcom even without being a massive-selling blockbuster.

Free updates set the stage

Before the arrival of the expansion, Capcom releases two free title updates. The first, scheduled for this Wednesday (June 10), includes quality of life improvements, such as a reusable eternal Ferrystone and adjustments to fast travel. The second comes at the end of August, with performance optimizations and fixes requested by the community.

These changes directly respond to early criticisms about exploitation and minor technical issues, preparing both veterans and new players for the extra content.

What changes for fans

For those who play on Switch 2, the Dark Arisen version represents the first opportunity to bring the complete Arisen adventure to Nintendo’s handheld. In other formats, the expansion adds hours of content without having to purchase the base game again.

The relaunch reinforces the long-term support model adopted by Capcom in action RPGs, similar to what it did with the first Dark Arisen, which significantly extended the longevity of the original title.
