Recent news indicates that Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children may be close to a trip to the United Kingdom. King Charles would have acted directly to overcome the security challenges that have long prevented family visits. Reports suggest a private intervention by the monarch to make it possible for the family to go. If confirmed, the trip will mark the first time Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have set foot on British soil in several years.

A new document points out that King Charles acted secretly to facilitate the arrangements. The security of the royal family remains one of the most sensitive points involving Prince Harry and British territory. That concern has intensified since he and Meghan Markle stepped back from their royal commitments, moving to California. The Duke of Sussex has emphasized that the lack of adequate protection makes it impossible for his wife and children to return to the country. A recent report, however, signals that this barrier may have been removed.

Details released by The Sun newspaper reveal that King Charles has offered discreet support to ensure the protection of Harry, Meghan, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet during a visit planned for next month. Sources consulted by the publication indicate that the King’s participation is crucial to making the family’s trip possible. The information comes to light after a long period of doubts regarding security measures.

This reported progress occurs without there being a visible change in the government’s official stance. Sources told the newspaper that an assessment of the level of threat to the Sussexes is underway. However, allegedly, this review did not bring improvements in protection funded by public funds. Instead, the report suggests that the monarch’s own resources could make up for this shortfall, allowing a “safe return” to the family.

If the arrangements come to fruition, the Sussexes are expected to travel to the UK to take part in the Invictus Games celebrations. This event, created by Prince Harry in 2014, remains one of his most significant initiatives. There is speculation that the family will attend a “one-year countdown party” for the 2027 Invictus Games, scheduled for Birmingham.

A possible visit would bring importance that transcends the sporting commitment itself. Duchess Meghan has rarely returned to Britain since the couple stepped down from their royal roles, without a major visit in the last four years. Archie and Lilibet, in turn, had even less contact with the country. Notably, King Charles, their grandfather, has reportedly met his grandchildren face to face on only one occasion since Harry and Meghan established residence in the United States in 2020, highlighting the impact of security barriers on the direct family relationship.
