Head-on collision between truck and car in Mirabela, at MGC-135, causes one death and one serious injury

A serious collision between a cargo vehicle and a car resulted in the death of a driver and injuries to a passenger on MGC-135, near Mirabela, this past Saturday (20).

According to information released by the Fire Department, upon arriving at the scene of the accident, at kilometer 291 of the highway, the rescue teams found the section already isolated and marked by the Military Police.

According to the corporation, the driver of the truck, which was transporting coal, did not suffer any injuries. In the car, one of the occupants was trapped in the wreckage and already dead. The second individual was rescued by a team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and taken to a hospital in Mirabela.

The PM’s Military Police Operations Center confirmed that the deceased driver was 39 years old, while the passenger was 32. Witness reports indicate that the driver of the car possibly entered the wrong lane, resulting in a head-on collision with the truck, a type of impact known for its high severity. Investigations into the exact circumstances of what happened will be the responsibility of the authorities.

Due to the fatality, the police kept the accident site preserved, awaiting the arrival of technical expertise from the Civil Police to collect evidence and clarify the facts.

After the necessary forensic procedures at the scene, the victim’s body was extricated from the vehicle and transported to the Legal Medical Center, located in the city of Montes Claros.
