Sony fiscal report signals possible end to exclusive PlayStation game releases for computers
A change in Sony’s internal policy for exclusive PlayStation games on computers has been signaled, according to the company’s annual business report released this Monday (22). The document now omits any mention of the release of its titles for PCs, pointing to a likely significant change in the company’s strategy.
In a separate development in the gaming universe, Naoki Hamaguchi, director of Final Fantasy VII Revelation, indicated that Square Enix’s future project, after the completion of the trilogy, will be a “large-scale” RPG and no longer a remake.
Tech company removed mention of PC games
Sony’s strategy for porting PlayStation titles to PC appears to be under reassessment. A recent company tax document no longer includes references that previously indicated the expansion of these games to other platforms, generating speculation about a restriction on future releases only for the PlayStation 5 console.
This change drew attention, as a previous report contained the statement that the company sought to “continue its efforts to release its exclusive titles on multiple platforms, such as PC.” The exclusion of this segment strengthens rumors that Sony may once again be focusing on the exclusivity of its singleplayer titles for the PlayStation console, although there is no official statement about the change. This movement, if confirmed, would represent a setback in the trend of multiplatform releases that has become common in recent years among large publishers.

Future Square Enix project focuses on massive new RPG
Naoki Hamaguchi, director behind Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which is expected to be released in 2027, is already planning Square Enix’s next steps. The developer revealed that the plan is to develop a new large-scale RPG, rather than another remake, following the conclusion of the current Final Fantasy VII trilogy.
Speaking to Game Informer, Hamaguchi expressed a desire to take on “a new challenge with another RPG”, whether it be part of the renowned Final Fantasy franchise or an entirely new intellectual property from Square Enix.
Speaking to Bloomberg, the director also reaffirmed that his next venture “will not be a remake”, signaling an interest in large-scale original projects or even in the creation of a new AAA franchise.
Former executive criticizes the industry for excessive focus on numbers
Stéphane D’Astous, a professional with extensive experience as a former manager at Eidos Montréal and a former executive at Ubisoft, expressed his discontent with the current direction of the gaming industry. In an interview, he stated that industry leaders prioritize “Excel much more than passion”, indicating a notable change compared to 15 years ago.
D’Astous points out that market consolidation and the arrival of large investors have transformed the profile of executives. He stated that “they don’t have the same DNA as the decision makers of 15 years ago.” The former manager added that the massive injection of capital during the pandemic resulted in projects with little sustainability and exaggerated expectations for the development of new games.
Development of God of War Laufey has lasted a decade
New information released after the June 2026 State of Play indicates that the God of War Laufey game has been in the development phase for approximately a decade.
With more than 20 minutes of gameplay in the presentation, the title stands out for changing the focus of the franchise, featuring Faye (Laufey) as the protagonist. This change, according to reports, had already been planned internally by Santa Monica Studio for several years.
In a statement to Comic Games Magazine, actress Deborah Ann Woll revealed: “I’ve known about this for almost ten years”, indicating that she had contact with the project in its early stages. She also highlighted that, as early as 2018, Cory Barlog showed concept art for the game, which included concepts for the character Phranque.
Price attributed to GTA 6 is denied by insider
The alleged price of GTA 6 that has been circulating online is not official and probably does not represent the real value of the title, since Rockstar Games has not yet made any announcement about its cost. Although an article raised the hypothesis of values already defined, the lack of confirmation from the developer keeps the situation open.
Insider Billbil-kun spoke out about the information, stating, “These SKUs are just markers, because EAN codes do not belong to Take-Two’s traditional prefixes. Therefore, these prices are random.” According to him, the published values are mere estimates, and the official price of GTA 6 will only be known next Thursday (25), with the start of pre-sales.
