Sony and Rockstar Games confirmed this Wednesday, June 24, a partnership to ensure that the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI offers an enhanced gaming experience on PlayStation 5. The title’s global launch is scheduled for November 19, transporting players to the vibrant state of Leonida, home to the iconic Vice City and other vast areas, making up the largest universe ever created for the series.

Enthusiasts will be able to pre-order the game from June 25th, at midnight (local time), directly through the PlayStation Store. Among the available options, Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition will include a package of benefits such as exclusive vehicles, special weapons, personalized costumes and complementary narrative content, deepening the story of the characters Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

Immersion in Grand Theft Auto VI with DualSense features

On the Sony console, Grand Theft Auto VI will be developed to take advantage of the capabilities of the DualSense wireless controller, intensifying immersion during the campaign. Sony Interactive Entertainment detailed that haptic feedback will be more precise, reacting to the player’s actions with different vibrations, while adaptive triggers will dynamically adjust resistance at specific moments in gameplay.

The speaker integrated into the controller will also be used to emit sound effects in crucial interactions and situations, combining them with haptic feedback to bring the player even closer to the events unfolding in the narrative.

Potential of PS5’s 3D Audio and SSD for Leonida’s World

The PlayStation 5 experience will also be supported by Tempest 3D AudioTech technology. This resource will provide high-precision sound spatialization in Leonida’s diverse settings, from the busy, illuminated streets of Vice City to the peaceful rural regions of the state, enriching the environmental perception.

Additionally, the console’s ultra-speed SSD will be instrumental in reducing loading times, allowing players to explore the vast open world with almost imperceptible transitions, promoting a more continuous and fluid journey.

History of the collaboration between PlayStation and Rockstar in the franchise

The partnership signed between PlayStation and Rockstar Games reflects a long and fruitful trajectory that dates back to the first Grand Theft Auto, released for the original PlayStation in 1997. With this new chapter in the franchise, both companies reinforce this strategic relationship, now focused on fully utilizing the resources of both the PlayStation 5 and the future PlayStation 5 Pro, consistently offering innovations to players.

The announcement of the collaboration was accompanied by the reveal of the game’s official cover art by Sony, marking another step in the anticipation for its launch.
