Ousmane Dembélé scored the third hat-trick of this edition of the World Cup last Friday. The France striker found the net three times in the first half, in the sixth, 19th and 31st minutes, during the match played in Boston, United States, against the Norwegian team.

Dembélé’s achievement puts him alongside other big names who had already shone in the tournament. Previously, Argentina’s Lionel Messi and Canada’s Jonathan David had also reached the milestone of three goals in a single game.

Messi secured his team’s victory in their debut against Algeria, while David was featured in Canada’s 6-0 rout of Qatar in the second round.

In addition to being the third hat-trick of this edition, Dembélé also wrote his name in the history of the French team. He became just the third athlete to record three goals in a World Cup match for France, a feat previously achieved only by Just Fontaine in 1958 and Kylian Mbappé in the 2022 final.

Dembélé’s scoring streak began with a precise right-footed finish from inside the box. The striker’s second goal came from a quick counterattack on the right side, after receiving a crucial assist from Kylian Mbappé.

Still in the first half, the third goal was scored with another finish from inside the area. Dembélé demonstrated skill by dribbling the marking before finishing and consolidating the significant advantage for the French team.
