In a statement, the Portuguese player described the meeting with Flamengo as the most challenging of that time, highlighting the high intensity, the game strategy and the fervent atmosphere generated by the Brazilian fans in the stadium. For him, this experience serves as preparation for the game atmosphere expected in the match against Colombia, demanding a similar mentality from the athletes.
Still in the group stage of the competition, the red and black team managed to upset Chelsea in Philadelphia. Pedro Neto opened the scoring for the English team, but the Brazilians reversed the result, winning 3-1. At the time, the striker classified this as the most complicated game, considering that Chelsea also faced Fluminense and Palmeiras.

After the semifinal played against Fluminense, the striker praised the quality of Brazilian clubs. Chelsea, in the end, became champions of the tournament by defeating PSG in the final.
“It’s a very difficult question. Without a doubt, three teams with a lot of quality. I think the result spoke for itself, it’s also true that we had one sent off, but Flamengo ended up beating us. But all three teams were complicated, you could see the experience they have, the quality. We’re very happy to have had that experience. It was the first time I played against Brazilian teams and I caught three straight away. And, without a doubt, I learned a lot too. High level teams”, expressed the player last year.
The clash between Portugal and Colombia is scheduled for next Saturday, at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), in the city of Miami, in the United States. The South American team has the advantage of a draw to guarantee first place in the group.
