A Chinese vehicle, known for being the fastest in production globally, held its first display in North American territory. The event took place in Miami, Florida, where the owner attracted attention by demonstrating an unusual jumping feature. This presentation surprised those present and marked the model’s debut in the United States. The owner of the supercar did not hesitate to show off the dynamic capabilities of his new “technological toy”.

Debut of Chinese hypercar accelerates on North American soil

The vehicle in question, recognized worldwide for its maximum speed among production cars, has its origins in China. Despite this, US audiences rarely had the chance to see him up close. For several reasons, Chinese automotive manufacturers do not yet have a consolidated presence in the American market. However, a supercar enthusiast found a way around this restriction.

Richard Skelhorn, an enthusiast, recently transported his BYD Yangwang U9 to Miami, Florida. Skelhorn assured that this is the first time that the electric hypercar has made an appearance on North American soil. The question then arises: how did the owner manage to bring the fastest production car in the world to Miami? The answer to this logistics reveals a peculiar procedure.

The model, according to regulations, entered the United States as a “tourist car”. Skelhorn explained that he acquired the BYD Yangwang U9 in August last year. However, the vehicle registration is not American, but Dubai. This classification allows the car to remain in the country for a maximum period of one year, requiring its departure after this period.

Without a doubt, the fastest production car in the world boasts impressive technical specifications. Equipped with four electric motors, the vehicle generates a total combined power of 3,000 horsepower. This performance surpasses the power of the Rimac Nevera R, another renowned electric hypercar, by around 900 hp.

BYD Yangwang U9’s Disruptive Technology Points to Future Trends

Advanced features, like those showcased by the U9, hint at the direction of the hypercar industry. Many experts are already debating whether traditional combustion engine propulsion is losing ground in the face of these electrical innovations. However, the most notable differentiator of this specific model is its unique ability to perform jumps.

Manufacturer BYD released impressive videos of the Yangwang U9 demonstrating this functionality. In the recordings, the vehicle jumps over a series of obstacles, including six meters of nails, and avoids holes in the roads, all in real time. This feat is possible thanks to the DiSus-X suspension system, developed by BYD itself, which allows the car to lift off the ground. Skelhorn, evidently, made a point of showing off this innovative feature, and everything indicates that this will not be the last time that the fastest hypercar in the world makes its appearance on American territory.
