Foxconn accelerates hiring for iPhone 18 Pro production before official launch
Foxconn has already started the process of hiring thousands of employees to assemble the iPhone 18 Pro, anticipating launches scheduled for autumn. This move by Apple’s supply chain partner occurs months before the new devices officially arrive on the market.
Every year, Apple’s production chain prepares for the significant increase in mass manufacturing of iPhone models by recruiting a large number of workers. For Foxconn, the main automaker, this recruitment phase is already underway in China.
Information released on July 22 indicates that the iPhone 18 series has entered the large-scale production stage. Given this, Foxconn and other partner companies are seeking to quickly expand their teams to meet the demand during this period.
Manufacturing these devices typically requires thousands of employees to join Foxconn for a few months, preparing initial volumes of iPhones for Apple. To ensure that smartphones reach stores within a few weeks of launch, the company needs to reach peak production by the end of August.

At the Zhengzhou factory, which is the main production hub in China, the manufacturing volume can reach hundreds of thousands of iPhone units per day.
While the current report does not detail specific hiring plans for the 2026 cycle, it is likely that the bonus structure offered to workers will be similar to that used in 2025.

In August 2025, for example, Foxconn granted a bonus of up to $1,113 for new hires who stayed at the factory for a period of three months. Smaller incentives had been previously proposed, but the urgency of expanding the workforce at that time required a more generous bonus.
As the summer progresses, more information is expected to emerge about financial incentive offers from Foxconn and other companies, given the continued need to maintain high production levels.

Launch strategy: the production division of the iPhone 18
A significant change expected for this year is the speculation that Apple will split the launch of the iPhone 18 line. According to rumors, the Pro models and the iPhone Fold will be presented in the fall, while the non-Pro version will only arrive in the spring of 2027. This split, if confirmed, could directly impact the availability of the devices for consumers, who will have to wait longer for entry-level models, but it also allows Apple to focus its marketing and production resources on the most expensive products during the period of greatest year-end demand.
This approach represents a strategic move for Apple on several fronts. When it comes to production, the supply chain will be able to focus on Pro models, which have historically been the most sought after during the holiday shopping season. Financially, the distribution of profits can be more balanced, avoiding concentrated sales peaks.
By contrast, standard iPhone models typically become the best-selling products in the second half of the device’s annual cycle, precisely when sales of the Pro versions begin to decline.
Therefore, the decision to segment iPhone 18 production, initially prioritizing Pro models and working on non-Pro variants two quarters later, makes sense for the company.

This will be the first year that Apple has adopted this new product schedule, and the exact impacts on the manufacturing process have not yet been fully revealed. The most likely consequence is the maintenance of production levels at levels similar to those of 2025, with a more constant manufacturing rate throughout the year.
