MapFour recently unveiled the Roam, its new electric trekking bike designed to provide a versatile experience, combining comfort, safety and practicality. The model was designed for daily commutes in the city, adventures on lighter trails and even for long-distance trips. The e-bike will be launched in two versions, incorporating features that are generally only found on higher-cost bicycles.
Initially aimed at European consumers, MapFour Roam integrates a central engine, a carbon belt drive system and connected functionality to prevent theft. This combination seeks to optimize the vehicle’s performance, while offering low maintenance requirements and great adaptability for everyday use. The carbon belt system, for example, requires no lubrication and is more durable than traditional chains, which is a significant benefit for those looking for practicality and lower costs in the long term, while anti-theft technology adds an important layer of security for the owner.
Comfort is a priority on longer trips
The Roam line has two chassis options: a traditional configuration, with an exposed top tube, and the Roam ST version, which has a lower structure for easier access. Both variations feature full suspension, an attribute that is still rare in electric bikes aimed at trekking, providing superior cushioning on different types of terrain. This feature is essential for absorbing irregularities and ensuring that the cyclist maintains comfort even on long routes or on challenging surfaces, making the pedaling experience much more pleasant.
The bike’s build includes an aluminum frame, a hydraulic fork with 100mm of travel and a four-point rear suspension with 60mm of travel. MapFour explains that this adjustment was designed to neutralize impacts and minimize vibrations felt by the cyclist, placing comfort as the main objective during riding on varied routes.
Among the various features and components included in the equipment, the following stand out:
- 27.5-inch trekking tires designed to be highly resistant to punctures;
- An ergonomic saddle, ideal for offering adequate support during long journeys;
- Riding position carefully developed to reduce fatigue when traveling;
- Functional fenders, integrated lighting system and a robust luggage rack at the rear.
