Barcelona shows strong interest in Rodri, considered the best player at the 2026 World Cup, and raised its offer to sign him from Manchester City. According to information from journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Catalan club presented an offer of 60 million euros, equivalent to 357.2 million reais, to the English on August 12, 2026.
Manchester City had already rejected a previous offer, worth 50 million euros, approximately 294 million reais, made the previous week.

The English team considers that 80 million euros, around 476.20 million reais, would be the ideal amount to complete the negotiation. However, the Spanish board is betting that an intermediate agreement can resolve the situation.

Barcelona’s plan includes presenting Rodri with a four-year contract to make it easier for his high salary to comply with LaLiga’s Financial Fair Play rules. The midfielder, who is 30 years old, has a contract with Manchester City valid until June 2027.
Rodri’s good rapport with several Barcelona players could be a decisive factor in his possible transfer to the Catalan club. The midfielder won the world title with the Spanish national team, playing alongside Barça athletes such as Yamal, Pedri, Gavi, Dani Olmo, Ferrán Torres and Cubarsí.
Rodri is currently in the last year of his contract, which expires on June 30, 2027. Recognized with the Ballon d’Or in the 2023/24 season and voted the best player at the 2026 World Cup, the 30-year-old midfielder had his market value significantly increased after his prominent performance in Spain’s two-time world championship campaign.
