Blizzard has officially released the fourth season of Overwatch 2, called Heroes of Busan, on all supported platforms. Among the main new features are the arrival of a new heroine, D.Mon, and a complete redesign of the game’s Battle Pass.
The update also brings significant changes to Competitive mode and introduces a themed event that focuses on MEKA Squadron pilots. The new season seeks to enhance players’ experience with more customization options and incentives for team play.
Meet D.Mon, the new Tank class hero
The latest addition to the Overwatch 2 cast is D.Mon, a character already known in the game’s universe as the leader of the MEKA Squad. This group’s main mission is to defend the city of Busan, in South Korea.
She joins the heroes as a Tank class character, which reinforces the season’s theme, centered on the defenders of the South Korean metropolis. His arrival promises to impact game strategies, offering new tactics for players who prefer the front line.

‘Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania’ event celebrates squadron pilots
In addition to D.Va and D.Mon, the MEKA Squadron is made up of three other pilots: Casino, King and Overlord. All of them are a central part of the “Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania” event, which will be available between August 11 and 31, 2026.
During the event period, players will have the chance to choose a driver to support by completing specific challenges. Each completed challenge pass counts as a vote for the chosen character, unlocking never-before-seen story segments and revealing more about each character’s personality.
Upon completing a pass, another can be started immediately, allowing players to support all members of the MEKA Squad throughout the duration of the event. This dynamic encourages exploration of all narratives.
Battle Pass has more flexible rewards system
Season 4 introduces an important change to how the Battle Pass works. Unlike the fixed order of rewards from previous seasons, players can now decide which Legendary skin they want to unlock first, using the points they accumulate as they progress through the game.
Those who choose to purchase the Premium Battle Pass will have additional access to the new “Tier Hack” feature. This can be used once per season to exchange an eligible Legendary reward for another item available in the Exchange Pool, increasing flexibility.
New features in competitive mode include Emerald rank
Overwatch 2’s Competitive mode also received significant updates this season:
- A new rank, Emerald, has been added to the existing levels.
- The mode’s ranking system has undergone a general update.
- Team Rush debuts, a feature that rewards players who stay together and collaborate during matches.
Blizzard reported that these changes are primarily intended to encourage cooperative play and, consequently, strengthen players’ competitive experience.
Overwatch 2’s fourth season can now be played
Season 4: Heroes of Busan is available to all players on Overwatch 2 compatible platforms starting August 11, 2026.
This update brings together a series of new content, including the arrival of the heroine D.Mon, expansions in the MEKA Squad universe, changes to the Battle Pass, new features for Competitive mode and the special event “Shooting Star: My MEKA Mania”, which remains active until August 31, 2026.
