To optimize the Free and Go plan experience, the company will implement the new GPT-5.6 Luna model, which will become the standard version, replacing the previous GPT-5.5. This advancement represents a significant evolution in the capacity for textual interaction.
Free and Go plan users will also receive a new button called “Think”, which will allow them to select an advanced level of reasoning for more elaborate questions. OpenAI, however, clarified that restrictions will remain for interactions with files, images, voice resources and visual generation.

The new features also reach subscribers of the Plus and Pro packages, who will have access to an improved version of GPT-5.6 Sol. This model was developed to optimize quick tasks such as consultations, internet searches, providing advice, planning activities, writing and decision-making processes, offering more concise and solid answers. This version, however, is different from the GPT-5.6 Sol used in the Codex and Work tools, which maintain their original settings.
For ChatGPT Plus and Pro users, an additional feature will be the reasoning slider. This feature will allow you to adjust the depth of analysis of the model before generating a response, adapting to the complexity and steps required to resolve each request.

An internal assessment conducted by OpenAI revealed notable improvements: the GPT-5.6 Luna model had 62% fewer factual errors compared to GPT-5.5-Instant, while GPT-5.6 Sol recorded a 68% reduction in these same errors. This decrease in errors significantly improves the confidence and usefulness of the information provided by AI.
The updated version of GPT-5.6 Sol is now available for Plus and Pro users. As for other updates for the Free and Go plans, they will be released in the coming days. Unlimited access to text chats and the new “Think” tool for complex queries will be available the week after the initial launch.
