Blizzard announced Diablo 5 on September 12, 2026 at 3:22pm BRT during BlizzCon 2026 as the newest core installment in the action RPG franchise. The project expands the series.
A brief teaser shown during the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony revealed the return of the Lord of Terror one century after the events depicted in Diablo 4.
The Diablo development team stated that Diablo 5 will officially launch in Spring 2029, placing the scheduled arrival six full years after the rollout of Diablo 4 and more than three decades after the gaming series first debuted. The production timeline sets that window.
The narrative in Diablo 5 unfolds a full century following the events of Diablo 4, establishing the project as the first entry in the series set entirely in a post-apocalyptic era.
BlizzCon 2026 included announcements for The Amazon class pack arriving in Diablo 4 in 2027, along with the Diablo 4 Collection for Nintendo Switch 2. Organizers also released Season 15 as an immediate retrospective across the history of the franchise.
