Chinese automaker BYD announced strategic updates for the Song Pro hybrid SUV in the Brazilian market. The vehicle received technological improvements focused on driving assistance and underwent a commercial repositioning with a reduction in the amounts charged at dealerships. The measure seeks to increase the model’s competitiveness against direct rivals in the electrified segment. The utility already occupies a prominent position on national license plates.

The changes include the GL and GS versions, which now have a more comprehensive equipment package from the factory. The manufacturer’s strategy occurs in parallel with preparations for the start of national production of the automobile in the industrial complex located in the state of Bahia. The move reflects the brand’s intention to consolidate its participation among the most sought-after sports utility vehicles in the country, offering a cost-benefit ratio superior to that of the competition.

Reposicionamento Pricing and Trading Strategy

The new price list establishes an exact reduction of R$4,810 for both configurations available on the Brasil. With the adjustment applied by the automaker, the entry-level GL version is now sold for R$189,990. Já, the top-of-the-line option, called GS, has a price set at R$199,990 in authorized network stores. The change in values occurs at a time of strong competition for participation in the automotive sector.

The financial adjustment positions the utility aggressively against established competitors such as the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid and Jeep Compass 4xe. The difference in values compared to rivals increases the product’s appeal for consumers looking to transition to electrified vehicles without exceeding the two hundred thousand reais range. The hybrid market on Brasil has seen continuous growth in recent years.

Dados market indicators indicate that the model already has strong commercial acceptance, with more than 11 thousand units registered in the first half of the year. The expectation of company executives is that the combination of lower costs with the addition of new series items will accelerate the pace of sales in the coming months. The volume strategy is essential to justify investments in local production infrastructure.

Implementação of level 2 Adas system

The main addition to the sports utility vehicle’s equipment list is the integration of the advanced driver assistance system, known by the acronym Adas. Level 2 technology is now part of the catalog of standard items, with emphasis on the GS version, raising the car’s active safety standards during urban and road use. The system uses real-time data processing.

The set of radars and cameras works in combination to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings and intervene when necessary. The technological package includes features that reduce the driver’s workload and prevent common accidents in daily traffic. Partial automation requires the driver to maintain attention on the road, but offers an extra layer of protection.

  • Adaptive automatic Piloto (ACC) for automatic speed control and safe distance.
  • Lane Keeping (LKA) Assistente with active steering wheel correction for centering.
  • Rear cross traffic (RCTA) Alerta to assist with reversing maneuvers.
  • Frenagem autonomous emergency vehicle (AEB) capable of acting to avoid or mitigate frontal collisions.

Sensor calibration has been adjusted to accurately identify pedestrians, cyclists and other automobiles. The joint action of these resources allows for more fluid driving on expressways, keeping the car on the correct trajectory and reacting to the flow of traffic without the need for constant intervention on the pedals. The feature reduces fatigue on long trips.

Desempenho of the hybrid set and autonomy

The car’s mechanical architecture is based on the plug-in hybrid system (PHEV) developed by the manufacturer itself. The set combines a 1.5-liter combustion engine, powered by gasoline and naturally aspirated, with a high-efficiency electric drive. Combined power reaches 223 hp in the GL configuration and reaches 235 hp in the GS variant. Electronic management defines the optimal use of each engine.

The immediate torque provided by the electric motor guarantees fast accelerations for the size of the vehicle. The entry-level version needs 8.3 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill, while the superior model accomplishes the same task in 7.9 seconds. The e-CVT transmission manages the delivery of power to the front wheels continuously, eliminating jerks when changing gears.

Energy efficiency is one of the pillars of the project, with a total autonomy estimated at up to 1,100 kilometers when the fuel and energy reservoirs are full. Instituto Nacional of Metrologia, Qualidade and Tecnologia (Inmetro) has updated range data in strictly electric mode. The GL version records 39 kilometers of emissions-free range, and the GS reaches 62 kilometers.

The energy replenishment process takes place using alternating current chargers with a maximum power of 6.6 kW. The cheapest option’s 12.9 kWh battery requires about two hours to fully charge. The 18.3 kWh component, exclusive to the most expensive version, requires approximately three hours connected to the socket. The regenerative system also recovers energy during braking.

Estrutura internal, design and national production

The vehicle’s visual design adopts the aesthetic language called “Dragon Face”, characterized by a wide front grille and LED headlights with vertical daytime running lights. The body measures 4.74 meters in length and has a distance of 2.71 meters between the axles. The dimensions ensure adequate internal space for five adults and a luggage compartment with 520 liters of useful volume. The 17-inch wheels feature a pinwheel design.

The cabin houses an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.8-inch rotating multimedia center. The entertainment system features a native internet connection, voice commands and wireless integration with smartphones via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The top version adds dual-zone air conditioning with an integrated air purification system using a PM2.5 filter.

The commercial advancement of the model occurs simultaneously with the structuring of the BYD factory in Camaçari, in the state of Bahia. The industrial unit is in the operational testing phase, carrying out the assembly of the first utility units for machinery calibration and training of local employees. The step validates quality processes before mass manufacturing.

Large-scale production at the Bahian complex is scheduled for 2026. The nationalization of the production process will allow the introduction of specific technologies for the Brazilian market, including the development of a flexible hybrid engine capable of operating on ethanol. The company plans to install 500 new public charging points in several cities to support the national electrical infrastructure.

Para To sustain the operation and provide security to buyers, the automaker maintains a six-year warranty policy for the complete vehicle. The Blade battery pack has eight-year extended coverage. Ambas warranties are offered with no mileage limit stipulated in the purchase contract, an important differentiator for fleet owners and app drivers.
