Details about the arrival of Deadpool 2 and its extended version on HBO Max
Starting July 1st, HBO Max will add Deadpool 2 and “Deadpool 2: Super Duper Cut” to its streaming catalog, according to information released to the press. The extended edition promises additional scenes, alternative jokes and extra moments with characters that were not present in the original theatrical release.
Released in May 2018, Deadpool 2 was directed by David Leitch and was distributed by 20th Century Fox before being incorporated into Disney. The plot focuses on Wade Wilson, played by Ryan Reynolds, who creates the group X-Force to defend the young mutant Russell from the time traveler Cable, played by Josh Brolin.
The group of actors also includes names such as Morena Baccarin, Zazie Beetz, Brianna Hildebrand, Julian Dennison and TJ Miller. Brad Pitt made a notable appearance as Vanisher, and Matt Damon appeared unexpectedly, under heavy makeup.
Commercial success and critical acclaim consolidated the Deadpool franchise
The production vastly exceeded box office projections. With a cost of approximately 110 million dollars, it achieved global sales of more than 700 million dollars, ranking among the biggest hits for people over 18 in the history of Hollywood. This smash success not only catapulted Deadpool from a mere fan favorite to one of Marvel’s greatest modern figures, but also demonstrated the commercial viability of comic book adaptations with more restrictive age ratings, paving the way for more diversity in the superhero genre.
The sequel received widespread approval from both critics and audiences. On Rotten Tomatoes, the work achieved an 83% positive rating among critics and 85% among the public, while on IMDb it received a score of 7.6 out of 10. Character enthusiasts highlighted Ryan Reynolds’ performance, the intensity of the action scenes and the presentation of figures such as Cable and Domino.
With the inclusion of both editions on HBO Max, Marvel admirers will have the chance to enjoy both the version shown in theaters and the extended one in parallel. For those who didn’t see the “Super Duper Cut” at its premiere, July 1 represents the ideal occasion to revisit one of Marvel’s most acclaimed productions.
