New flaws in the functioning of the Google Pixel cell phone screen are emerging after the recent update to Android 17, generating dissatisfaction among users. The situation highlights a recurring pattern of problems on Google devices, which, despite being the reference for the Android operating system, often face software challenges that undermine the experience expected from impeccable support, often compared to that of Apple.
The main problem reported by device owners is linked to the lack of response to touch at the top of the screen. This failure manifests itself specifically when cell phones are in landscape mode, especially when playing videos, preventing interaction with essential elements of the interface.
A formal complaint on the Google support forum describes the inconsistency of the haptic response. The top part of the screen becomes completely unresponsive to touch whenever the device is rotated to horizontal orientation, whether to watch content or use applications that support landscape mode. The bug persists, continuously affecting usability.
Furthermore, the inconvenience is not limited to a specific application, appearing on several platforms. The failure was observed on YouTube, in web browsers when starting videos and even in the system’s own settings menu, confirming that the problem is rooted in the Android 17 update.
In addition to the touch sensitivity issue, some Pixel models are also having difficulty with the navigation bar. Buttons occasionally become unresponsive, requiring multiple presses to function properly. The vehicle 9to5Google managed to replicate the failures on a Pixel 10 Pro XL, validating the complaints. However, Google has not yet commented on recognizing the bug or on a possible solution, leaving users without a way around the limitation other than avoiding using landscape mode.
