Royal family celebrates Prince George’s 13th birthday and releases never-before-seen portrait
Prince George, heir to the British crown, has reached the 13-year-old mark, officially becoming a teenager.
His parents, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, celebrated their firstborn’s birthday with an affectionate message posted to the family’s official Instagram account on Wednesday, July 22.
Along with the congratulation “Happy 13th Birthday, George! 🎉”, a new photo of the young royal was shared. In the never-before-seen portrait, George appears elegant in a dark blazer, trousers and a white button-down shirt, flashing a slight smile with his hands in his pockets.
The royal couple also have two other children, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8.

Traditionally, the Princess of Wales and Prince William release special photos of their children annually to celebrate their respective birthdays. Last year, for the now teenager’s birthday, the family’s official Instagram account posted a video of the three siblings holding hands, with George and Charlotte carrying the youngest and laughing.
Recently, on July 12, the royal family was present at the men’s final of the 2026 Wimbledon tournament. Prince William, Catherine, George and Charlotte watched the match from the Royal Box, where they saw Jannik Sinner, the world number 1, defend his title and secure the championship trophy for the second year in a row. Prince Louis did not attend the event.

After the victory, Sinner was seen talking to his family. In a video that circulated on video platforms, the athlete asked the children if they practiced tennis every day. George and Charlotte responded that they usually practice on the weekends.
