Real Madrid changes strategy and schedule decisive meeting for Rodri
Real Madrid’s strategy for the transfer market has undergone a significant change, with the club deciding to move forward with the signing of Manchester City midfielder Rodri. A scheduled meeting could be crucial to speeding up talks for the 30-year-old midfielder, who was crowned the best player at the 2026 World Cup.
For almost a year, the Real Madrid board showed resistance in moving forward with the possibility of having Rodri in its squad. However, this position, initially unfavorable before the World Cup, changed during Spain’s victorious campaign. The player’s outstanding performance at the World Cup, combined with the outcry from fans, led the club to completely reevaluate the negotiation.

President Florentino Pérez has already given his permission for Real Madrid to begin hiring negotiations. The Spanish club shows confidence in reaching an agreement with Manchester City, with an estimated amount of between 40 and 50 million euros, which corresponds to around R$235 million to R$294 million according to the current exchange rate.
No major difficulties are expected for Real Madrid to finalize the terms of the personal agreement with Rodri. The athlete has a contractual relationship with Manchester City until June 2027 and, before his performance at the World Cup, he reportedly refused an offer to renew his contract from the English club.
Rodri also reportedly declined a substantial offer from Paris Saint-Germain. The player’s clear preference is to return to Spanish football, specifically to join the Real Madrid squad, showing the importance of the club for his career and reinforcing the athlete’s desire.

Rodri’s performance during the World Cup served to dispel any uncertainty about his fitness. He once again demonstrated the high level of play that earned him the 2024 Ballon d’Or and was a key player in winning Spain’s second world title.
If the transfer goes through, Real Madrid will need to reorganize its midfield, which could involve the departure of other athletes to make room for the Spaniard. This move is an indication of the club’s seriousness in strengthening the team with a strong name, even if this causes internal changes.
