Expectations for the launch of the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are growing, with speculation indicating that the devices will come with improved features in at least three areas, consolidating the differentiation of the “Pro” line. These upgrades seek to justify the cost and attract an audience that seeks the maximum in technology, reinforcing Apple’s strategy for specific market segments, as pointed out by analysts on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Cameras with enhanced features and features exclusive to the Pro line

Historically, camera performance has been a major attraction in Apple’s Pro models. This tradition of excellence must be maintained, and even expanded, in the next generation of the iPhone 18 Pro.

  • Main camera with variable aperture capability
  • Telephoto lens with an enlarged aperture

While there is a possibility that features like variable aperture will come to models like the iPhone Ultra in the future, current speculation suggests that this technology will initially be restricted to the Pro line, possibly due to physical space challenges.

The telephoto lens, in turn, will remain a differentiator of the Pro line, with no plans for inclusion in the iPhone Ultra. The iPhone 18 Pro will feature a larger aperture telephoto lens, designed to deliver superior results in low-light conditions.

Significant increase in battery life

Battery longevity has always been one of the pillars of the Pro models, and indications point to the iPhone 18 Pro raising this performance standard even further.

Rumors are circulating about the increased battery capacity of both the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. However, the Pro Max model, in particular, could present notable advances in this regard.

A recent leak revealed that the iPhone 18 Pro Max configurations equipped with eSIM may have a 5567mAh battery, which represents a considerable increase compared to the 5088mAh of its predecessor, the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The combination of batteries with greater physical volume and the energy optimization offered by the A20 Pro chip and the C2 modem promises to deliver the greatest autonomy ever seen in Apple’s Pro series this year.

Increase in launch values for new iPhones Pro

One of the changes that will accompany the “Pro” status of the iPhone 18 Pro is its market price.

  • iPhone 18 Pro: $1,299 to $1,399
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max: $1,399 to $1,499

It is important to note that these amounts refer to initial prices only. Although the base iPhone 18 and iPhone Air 2 may also see adjustments, their launches and possible increases are not expected before the beginning of 2027.

Consequently, the iPhone 18 Pro could hit the market with an initial cost hundreds of dollars above the price of the current iPhone Air, a model that Apple should keep in its sales lineup. The value could even be close to double what an iPhone 17 costs.

Apple may also decide to increase the prices of models launched in previous years. In any case, the perception of the price difference for the “Pro” line will be more evident this year.
