Cadillac’s Formula 1 CEO, Dan Towriss, classified as “unfounded” the rumors about the possible hiring of Brazilian driver Rafa Câmara for the 2027 season. However, Towriss, in a statement made on August 13, 2026, avoided completely ruling out changes to the team’s driver lineup for the coming years.
“I know there have been some rumors going around about some of the young drivers,” said Towriss. “They haven’t been confirmed, so it’s not something I want to focus on. We’re not focused on that at the moment.”
The director made a point of adding an important caveat when commenting on the current driver duo, Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas.

“It’s F1 and things can always change. There are no changes planned for 2027 at the moment, but things can always change,” explained Towriss.
In a previous investigation, during the Hungarian GP, it was revealed that Cadillac, which uses Ferrari engines, is following Câmara’s performance as a potential option for a starting position in 2027.
The Brazilian, current Formula 3 champion, has shown remarkable performance in his first season in Formula 2. The Invicta Racing driver has won four of the last six pole positions and won two races, positioning himself in third place in the championship, 22 points behind leader Nikola Tsolov.
Câmara’s entry into the team would mean the departure of one of the current drivers, be it Pérez or Bottas. So far, the Finn’s performance has been slightly lower than that of his teammate.
During a press conference focused on the appointment of Marcin Budkowski as team principal, replacing Graeme Lowdon, Towriss was asked how a younger driver could contribute to Cadillac’s development.
“It’s a great question, whether a younger driver can come in and boost the team. It’s certainly something we consider,” said Towriss.
He concluded by stating his satisfaction with the current drivers: “We have two experienced drivers who we are very satisfied with and who are driving the team forward.”
