Barcelona raises proposal for Rodri and approaches the minimum value required by Manchester City
Barcelona is finalizing a third proposal for Manchester City, seeking to sign midfielder Rodri, on August 14, 2026. The investment is approaching an amount considered essential by the English club to release the player.
The Catalan team has already sealed an agreement with the athlete, who preferred to join the current Spanish champions instead of Real Madrid, despite two previous offers that were not accepted by City.

The English club values Rodri at more than 70 million euros (approximately 422 million reais), and the expectation is that Barcelona’s most recent proposal will come close to that financial level.
The athlete, a key player in Spain’s recent World Cup victory the previous month, returned to England this week after his rest period.
Rodri had his first meeting with Enzo Maresca, City’s new coach, who expressed caution when commenting on the possibility of counting on the player this season.

“When the transfer window is open, we can either buy or sell players; anything can happen,” Maresca said during a press conference ahead of the English Super Cup, which will be played against Arsenal. The coach added: “I just saw Rodri, I gave him a big hug. He seems fine. Let’s see what happens. Now we have time to see each other a little more.”

Faced with Bernardo Silva’s free transfer to Real Madrid and an imminent deal with Al Qadsiah for Tijjani Reijnders, the Premier League club is showing urgency in strengthening its midfield, anticipating a possible transfer for Rodri.
City recently signed English player Elliot Anderson, coming from Nottingham Forest, for 116 million pounds (equivalent to 820 million reais), but the team remains active in the market looking for other signings.
Among the possible targets to reinforce the squad are Enzo Fernández, from Chelsea, and Ayyoub Bouaddi, from Lille.

However, Maresca indicated that Manchester City will be unlikely to meet the deadline set by Chelsea for the negotiation of Enzo Fernández, as the Blues demand 120 million pounds for the Argentine midfielder.
