Microsoft has begun rolling out a series of performance tweaks in Windows 11 aimed at speeding up day-to-day operations. The improvements begin to reach participants in the Windows Insider program on the Release Preview, Beta, Dev and Canary channels, with plans to reach common users from May onwards. The focus is on making the system more responsive in frequent tasks such as folder navigation, opening settings and managing installed applications.

Explorador of Arquivos and Configurações gain speed

The Explorador of Arquivos received internal optimizations that reduce metadata processing time, allowing folders and information to be loaded more quickly. The change mainly benefits machines with many files or external disks connected, where previous performance was slower.

In the Configurações area, the installed applications page now displays the list of programs, icons and storage space calculations significantly faster. The gain is particularly noticeable on computers with dozens or hundreds of programs, where earlier loading could cause noticeable crashes.

  • Listagem of applications appears with shorter waiting time
  • Ícones loads without noticeable crashes
  • Storage Cálculo updates with reduced delay
  • Interface responds better when scrolling or filtering programs

Inicialização faster and less memory consumption

Aplicativos configured to start together with Windows 11 now opens with less waiting after a reboot, thanks to adjustments to process loading sequencing. The impact is greater on machines with multiple autostart programs, reducing the time until the system is completely ready for use.

Background Processos, such as Windows Update downloading updates, now uses less RAM. Essa optimization reduces performance drops during automatic operations invisible to the user. In tests with multiple simultaneous downloads, the available memory remains more stable, avoiding slowdowns while the system manages background tasks.

Melhorias on Windows Hello and emoji panel

Fingerprint recognition by Windows Hello now occurs without delay when resuming from sleep mode, eliminating a common friction point on laptops and desktops with a biometric reader. The emoji panel also received improved typing, making selection more fluid during daily use.

Outros similar adjustments target the Área history of Transferência, accessed by Windows+V, and disk management in the Configurações interface, consolidating a system-wide optimization approach.

Cronograma release and expectations

Improvements to Explorador from Arquivos, initialization and memory management begin to go out via the Release Preview channel in May 2026. Ajustes in the Configurações area are still in the Dev phase, with broader rollout expected soon. Microsoft has signaled its intention to continue delivering optimizations until the end of 2026, without the need for new hardware or clean system installation.

  • Melhorias arrive gradually via regular Windows Update
  • Release Preview receives first batch of optimizations in May
  • Canal Dev tests additional tweaks on Configurações
  • Meta is to increase the overall system agility by December 2026
  • Nenhum official benchmark with percentages has been released so far

Practical Impacto for ordinary users

Quem system update should notice faster responses in everyday operations, especially when opening Explorador from Arquivos and accessing the list of installed applications. The reduced pressure on RAM helps maintain stable performance even with multiple tasks running simultaneously, while the Windows Hello’s lack of lag eliminates a minor annoyance in frequent locking and unlocking sessions. Relatos initial feedback from Insider Program participants is positive, with a focus on polishing the experience without major visual changes or hardware upgrade requirements.
