GWM has started advance reservations for the Ora 5 in Brazil. The electric SUV can now be reserved with a down payment of R$9,000 on the brand’s official website, at dealerships or via Mercado Livre. The final price will be announced on June 29th, with expected values in the region of R$200,000.

The model arrives as the second vehicle in the Ora line in the country and GWM’s first 100% electric sports utility vehicle here. It expands the brand’s offering, which has so far sold the Ora 03 hatch and hybrid or diesel SUVs such as the Haval H6, Wey 07 and Tank 300.

Design maintains retrofuturistic identity of the Ora line

The Ora 5 follows the visual style of its smaller brother Ora 03, with rounded lines and elements that refer to updated classic designs. Rounded headlights, a more pointed front bumper and a raised roof with an integrated rack define the look. At the rear, the lights built into the rear window draw attention.

The dimensions confirm superior size. The SUV measures 4.47 meters long, 1.83 m wide, 1.64 m high and has a wheelbase of 2.72 m. These measures bring it closer to models like the Toyota Corolla Cross and the BYD Yuan Plus. Compared to the Ora 03, it gains 24 cm in total length and 7 cm in the wheelbase.

  • Bumpers with more robust design
  • Door mirrors
  • Exclusive wheels with specific design
  • Rear lights integrated into the glass
  • Roof with integrated rack for greater practicality

The look reinforces the proposal of a compact family SUV, taller and more versatile than the family hatch.

Equipment includes ADAS 2+ and large screens

The official Ora 5 page on the GWM website in Brazil already lists several standard items. The highlight is the ADAS 2+ package, which brings advanced driving assistance with autonomous braking and active artificial intelligence. The system includes features such as lane keeping assist and blind spot monitoring.

The multimedia center has a 14.6-inch screen with an updated Coffee OS system. It offers wireless connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as AI voice control. The digital instrument panel has a 10.2-inch screen. OTA updates and remote access via the My GWM app complete the technological package.

The model also features a V2L function, which allows you to use the battery to power external equipment of up to 4.4 kW. This makes it easier to use when traveling or in emergency situations.

Engine confirms 204 hp electric version

GWM confirmed the Ora 5 in Brazil only in the 100% electric configuration. The engine delivers 204 hp of power and 26.5 kgfm of torque. The battery must have a capacity of 58.3 kWh. In China, the set provides up to 520 km of autonomy in the NEDC cycle. In Brazil, the number will be lower according to the Inmetro standard, with estimates above 300 km.

The SUV weighs around 1,669 kg in running order and has a ground clearance of 17.5 cm. DC fast charging reaches 120 kW in some international configurations. Abroad, there is also a hybrid variant, but for now the Brazilian focus is on the pure electric version.

Positioning targets rivals in the compact electric segment

The Ora 5 arrives to fight directly with options such as Leapmotor B10, Omoda E5, Volvo EX30 and BYD Yuan Plus. It is positioned above the Ora 03 in GWM’s portfolio and helps the brand expand its presence in the electric SUV segment, which is gaining traction in the country.

GWM promised five new features for 2026 in Brazil. The Ora 5 is part of this package and should reinforce the company’s electrification strategy. Brazil is among the first global markets to receive the model, following launches in Thailand, the Philippines and Australia.
